During a trip to Belize, a traveler was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident, and Global Guardian stepped in to provide immediate response and ongoing support.  

The client's injuries were severe, necessitating not only medical intervention but also assistance with basic physical needs such as mobility and personal care. Global Guardian’s objective was to ensure the client received appropriate medical treatment in Belize, providing medical support from U.S. board-certified physicians, translation services, and coordination with the client’s insurance provider, and, ultimately, safe transport back to the United States. 

Mission and Response

Upon receiving the call for assistance, Global Guardian swiftly assembled a team to manage the situation, including analysts from our 24/7 Operations Center, a U.S. board-certified physician from our medical team, and agents from our vetted and trained on-the-ground team in Belize, who have local connections, resources, and language skills. 

Shortly after the patient was admitted to the emergency room in Belize, Global Guardian's local agents arrived onsite within the hour, and remained with the patient, providing translation services, assisting with her physical care, and ensuring her needs were met throughout her stay. The team also coordinated admittance and transportation via ambulance to a better-equipped hospital in the country based on our vetted team's recommendation and expertise. Once the patient was stable enough to move, the agents accompanied her to the new facility and stayed with her around the clock to ensure she was properly cared for. 

Concurrently, the Global Guardian team worked closely with the patient’s insurance provider to manage her medical expenses and ensure that all necessary documentation was handled efficiently. This seamless coordination was critical in reducing the patient’s stress during an already difficult time. 

While the patient recovered, our team planned transportation back to the United States via commercial air and arranged for a medical escort to ensure the patient was physically comfortable and stable throughout the journey. The mission concluded with the patient arriving safely back home four days after her accident.
