Global Guardian was tasked with ensuring the safety and security of a corporate client’s employees and affiliates while traveling internationally and participating in a series of meetings and events in Indonesia. During the mission, an unexpected in-flight emergency showcased Global Guardian’s expertise and readiness.
Upon receiving the request for travel security and medical support for the events in Indonesia, Global Guardian briefed and deployed an agent from its special operations division to oversee the mission. The agent was both trained in special operations and a registered nurse with the ability to navigate the security and medical challenges of traveling to an unfamiliar destination.
A week before the start of the event, the Global Guardian agent arrived in Indonesia to conduct an advance, including security site assessments at all venues included in the itinerary and coordination with local hospitals and physician in case an emergency arose on the trip. The agent also brought on a dedicated physician and nurse to provide immediate response to the travelers.
Throughout the 20-day mission, the agent managed and responded to any security and medical incidents and emergencies that occurred, providing necessary support to ensure the safety of travelers and keep their schedule on track.
While very few incidents occurred during their time in Indonesia, the agent had to react fast to a medical emergency on the return flight from Indonesia to Qatar. A passenger, not affiliated with the group of corporate travelers, suffered severe burns from tea spilled during turbulence, prompting an urgent overhead call for medical assistance. The Global Guardian agent immediately responded.
Despite limited medical supplies due to airline safety regulations, the Global Guardian agent had the foresight to bring essential medical items with them in their carry-on luggage. The agent immediately conducted a thorough assessment and observed the passenger had suffered extensive burns across her body. Global Guardian’s agent quickly administered necessary first aid. While consulting with the airline doctor, our agent also requested advanced care be available upon landing.
With treatment and medication, our agent was able to get the passenger’s pain under control and the rest of the flight passed without incident, as our agent checked on the passenger throughout the remainder of the eight-hour flight.
