The patient was immediately taken to the local hospital on the island but required intensive surgery to repair her hand—beyond the scope of what the hospital could provide. The family of the patient contacted Global Guardian for assistance in transporting the patient to a hospital in the United States to receive care from a hand specialist and vascular surgeon. **RESPONSE:** Upon receiving the call from the client Sunday evening, Global Guardian’s Air Ambulance team immediately began coordinating a medical evacuation from Saint Kitts to Miami, Florida where the patient would be able to receive the required surgery to repair her hand. Working with a vetted and trusted aviation partner, the team quickly secured a private aircraft in Florida to execute the transport the following morning. While the aircraft made its way to Saint Kitts, Global Guardian’s medical team reviewed the patient’s case and cleared them for the flight. The patient was transported by ground to the airport where the aircraft was waiting. Once safely on board, the patient made the 1,271-mile journey to Miami, Florida, where Global Guardian had arranged for ground transportation to immediately take the patient to her desired hospital. Thanks to the quick planning and experienced execution by Global Guardian’s Air Ambulance team and their aviation partner, the patient arrived at the hospital without incident and within 24 hours of her call to undergo the necessary hand surgery and receive care from the appropriate specialists. --- FROM THE CLIENT: “I would like to thank you and your incredibly helpful team for assisting us with an emergent medical transport from the island of St. Kitts.
