INCIDENT: Global Guardian responds to at-home cybertheft

SITUATION: A partner at a West Coast high net worth financial management practice contacted Global Guardian concerning the hacking of her Netgear wireless router. Attackers used the compromised Netgear router to steal usernames and passwords, before proceeding to assume her identity, stealing money from bank accounts, and taking over her credit cards and home phone line.

RESPONSE: Global Guardian responded by hardening the client's home network and installing a new firewall and wireless router. Working in parallel with the client, Global Guardian contacted every bank and credit card company with whom she had accounts and converted every username and password to two factor authentication. Ultimately Global Guardian restored normalcy and a sense of security to our client's digital world. Our client's home and business are now under long term cyber security management and protection.
