McLean, VA – March 23, 2020 – Global Guardian, the preeminent provider of international security services for corporate and family travelers, utilized their Emergency Evacuation services to quickly and safely evacuate 144 Americans out of Roatan, Honduras, on Sunday, March 22, 2020. The request from private citizens came as Americans have found themselves stranded as a result of heightened travel restrictions and border closures due to COVID-19.
“In a time of uncertainty, we know how important it is to be where you feel the safest. We were thrilled that we were able to step in and bring this group of Americans back home,” said Dale Buckner, Chief Executive Officer of Global Guardian.
As COVID-19 cases continue to surge and alternative evacuation services are being sought out by many travelers who want to return home, Global Guardian is planning for additional emergency evacuations around the world.
“With the Roatan evacuation successfully completed and additional requests continuing from all over the world, we are working tirelessly to continue to bring U.S. citizens back home,” said Mike McGarrity, Vice President of Global Risk Services. “This underscores the importance of having a worldwide team of professionals who are trained to manage any emergency, anywhere, at any time.”

“Although the restrictions in Honduras were revised to allow planes to fly in and return visitors back home, many of the individuals we assisted were still finding themselves with a canceled or extremely delayed flight option. Our team of former military special operations and federal law enforcement personnel are trained to respond and manage critical incidents quickly and efficiently, positioning us to respond to this evacuation,” said Buckner.
